I teach art workshops throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The atmosphere is relaxed and classes are generally small with under 12 students. I encourage sharing, discovering and create a lively space that returns us to childhood when our important "work" was to create, invent and imagine!

I also bring my workshops to corporate sites, providing a great opportunity for employees to reduce stress, free up creative thinking and improve teamwork. Let me bring a workshop to your group or business. If you don't see a workshop in your area and would you like me to teach one, you can host a group (minimum of 6 people) and I will conduct a customized workshop at your facility tailored to your special interests. Let's get together for some positive energy, friendly support, artmaking and creativity. Please drop me an email if you're interested in forming a class in locations or on dates other than what's currently on the calendar.

About the Workshops

1. SoulCollage® 1 - Committee and Community
For non-artists and artists. Based on the popular book SoulCollage®.

Have fun, make collage art and tell your soul’s story! In this easy, exciting and energizing process you’ll use existing pictures to symbolize parts of your personality and influential people that make you the fascinating character you are. You’ll learn what your art reveals and how it can guide you. Like Yoga and meditation, you’ll see how creating collage art can become an indispensable ally in your daily journey!

Images often help us tap into thoughts and feelings that words are unable to express. Using the powerful art of collage/photo-montage, this workshop will show you how having fun making collage art can help you better understand and honor all that make you the unique person you are. You’ll learn the first two parts of the collage-making process -- The Committee and The Community. Students learn to activate their intuitive side for selecting images, to make exciting and beautiful collages, the basics of finding personal meaning in the art and how to use the process to continue on their personal journey of self discovery using art as a mirror of your soul and as personal guide. If you're intrigued by collage as an art form, enjoy looking deeper into your inner world, as well as investigating and honoring all that makes you a unique treasure, this is for you.

SoulCollage® Committee and Community takes you beyond art, analysis, journaling and introspection alone. Like meditation, yoga, or spiritual practice, SoulCollage® gives you the fun or collage making as a powerful, practical, and relaxing tool for healing and personal growth.

2. SoulCollage® 2 - Companion and Council

3. SoulCollage® Illuminations and Affirmations
Teaches how to use the SoulCollage® process to accentuate the positive, self-affirming, aspects of each person’s life. The objective is to come away feeling great about yourself and grateful for your blessings. This is an excellent workshop for those in transition, coming out of a relationship, job seeking, facing challenges, or just needing a lift. Beginning to intermediate students.

SoulCollage® workshops can be themed and customized for your group or organization for a full day or half-day of creativity and community!

4. Texturing Techniques for Mixed Media Arts - I
This is an exciting adventure into the world of mixed media art. Rich textures give depth and complexity to art. This workshop will explore ten of my favorite techniques for creating lush backgrounds using USUAL AND UNUSUAL art tools and media. We'll splash, splatter, scratch, sand, glaze, stipple, stencil, mask, weather, distress, age, crumple and much more! You'll create a beautiful journal of techniques you can use for reference for years to come. Plus, you'll have many unique and personal paper samples for collages, greeting cards, tags and other decorative art.
Beginning to intermediate students.

NEW!!  5. Texturing Techniques for Mixed Media Arts - II
The second installment of this vast subject continues! We'll learn a new series of techniques to enrich mixed media art with textures, creating sensual surfaces and dynamic dimensionality. These textures are pure magic and mystery. Students leave the workshop with new tools in the toolbelt to use in their mixed media pieces, plus many samples for gift tags, greeting cards, collage art and more. Beginning to intermediate students.

6. Altered Photographs
Raid those shoeboxes of old photos and see how much fun it is to transform snapshots and other im
ages into alternative art. You'll be amazed at what happens when you scratch, splatter, cut, glue, punch, tear and torture a picture! This workshop is for you if you need some serious art play and want to learn new ways to use your imagination and creativity. Beginning to intermediate students.

7. It's All About Me
This four-hour collage workshop for mothers and daughters aged 9 to 12 provides a time to create together and for each to tell the untold story of who they are as individuals. By working together, we strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters through a common art project and facilitate understanding, cooperation, communication and mutual respect. Students learn principles of composition, collage techniques and will be given freedom to explore and develop their own artistic interpretation of the theme. No previous collage experience is necessary. The end result will be a lovely piece of frameable art and a fun "just the girls" afternoon. Beginning to intermediate students.

8. Photo Play!
If you like working with traditional tools such as paint, pastels, pen and ink AND also like to use the computer, this workshop will show you how to integrate both in the creation of non-traditional images. We'll use ordinary inkjet prints and learn compatible media that can be applied to the surface to manipulate and transform the image into entirely new and different creations. Results are whimsical, surrealistic, beautiful and totally unique. Use them in your mixed media art or frame them individually. We'll transfer, color, cut and paste in new and unconventional ways! Beginning to intermediate students.

NEW!!  9. Set Me Free! How to Overcome Creative Blocks and Let your Art Flow.
Want to approach your art more freely and confidently? Are you longing to loosen up, reconnect with your “inner child” and treasure the unknown rather than fear it? Through a series of creativity and "liberation" exercises, we'll jumpstart your "out-of-the-box" art thinking and expression using uncertainty as an art “ally.” Mixed materials and surprise tools will help you advance your artistic style. Learn simple exercises, particularly valuable for mixed media, abstract and semi-abstract artists, to use anytime you feel artistically closed and want to create with less self-consciousness and inhibition.
